My Unforgettable Experience
By Galie Ng 4B (23)
During the Christmas holidays, my elder brother Mark and I stayed home and we made paper planes together. I did not know how to make one, so I asked if he could teach me. Then, Mark taught me how to make paper planes step by step and I watched very carefully as I was trying to make my own paper plane. After multiple times of trying, I made it! Mark was very proud of me. We jumped up and down and smiled at each other.
Since Mark and I had already made our own paper planes, John said, “Let’s have a competition to see whose paper plane cam fly further!” “Okay!” I agreed. I have never played with a handmade paper plane before, so I was very excited. “First, you hold it like that. Then you throw it towards the wall.” John showed me an example. After that, we started our competition. We had a wonderful time. Meanwhile, Mum was cooking dinner. She cared about our safety, so she said, “Please be careful, I don’t want you two to hurt yourselves!”
It was Mark’s birthday a few days later. Dad bought him a brand-new model plane on his eleventh birthday. Mum and Dad decorated the living room and also prepared delicious food for John’s birthday that made my mouth water. “This toy plane is for you. Happy birthday, Mark!” Dad said. “Thank you, Dad!” exclaimed Mark, surprised. However, I was jealous of him because I liked toy planes too. I crossed my arms and stared at happy Mark who was thanking Dad for his amazing present. I also stomped my foot angrily and loudly. I was very, very angry at Mark.
I grabbed Mark’s plane and we started a fight. “Let me play with it!” I shouted at him. “No, it’s mine!” yelled Mark. We threw our fists at each other angrily.
Mum heard the loud screaming and yelling that we were making so she came out of the kitchen. Suddenly, the toy plane broke into pieces and shattered onto the ground. Mark was nervous because he was worried that Mum might scold him. I burst into tears and cried loudly. “Mark, why did you make your brother cry?” Mark was too scared to answer. Mum crossed her arms and her face turned red. She looked as if smoke was coming out of her head.
Thankfully, Dad repaired the toy plane at once and we were all relieved. I apologized to my brother and I said that I would never grab his things without his permission again. I learnt that sharing is caring and fighting isn’t a solution.
